Participation in AEC Annual Meeting for International Relations
Title: The Space Between – Educating Citizen Artists Through Global Cooperation
From September 4–7, we took part in the AEC Annual Meeting for International Relations. Partnerq in the IncluMusic Erasmus+ Program KA2, contributed to the session titled:
"Enhancing Accessibility for Students with Special Education Needs (SEN): The Erasmus+ Programme and the IncluMusic Example."
During this session, we conducted two workshops and presented the results of the IncluMusic project work packages, as well as the project’s e-learning platform: IncluMusic E-Learning Platform.
Abstract
In the pursuit of educational equity and cultural exchange, the Erasmus+ programme strives to provide transformative opportunities for all students. However, students with Special Education Needs (SEN) often face significant barriers that can limit their participation in these initiatives.
This session aimed to identify and address the challenges faced by SEN students, facilitating discussions on strategies to make the Erasmus+ experience more inclusive. Key topics included:
- Exploring specific barriers encountered by SEN students in Erasmus+ mobility, such as issues related to wheelchair accessibility, visual and hearing impairments, and neurodivergent needs.
- Sharing insights and experiences regarding common obstacles for outgoing and incoming SEN students across institutions.
Through a collaborative approach, participants engaged in discussions to better understand the needs and concerns of SEN students. The session also showcased existing resources and best practices, including mindfulness techniques featured in the IncluMusic project’s training modules (2022–2025).
A special segment highlighted personal stories and practical solutions for addressing challenges encountered by SEN students. Participants engaged in table discussions to explore inclusive strategies that can be implemented at their institutions.
By the end of the session, attendees gained a deeper understanding of the inclusion challenges faced by SEN students and insights into practical solutions and resources to enhance accessibility and equity in Erasmus+ programmes.
