Founded in 1919, the National Academy of Music “Gheorghe Dima” is a state institution for higher education and research comprising the following types of education:

• - Bachelor’s degree programs;
• - Master degree programs;
• - Doctoral degree programs.

ANMGD is one of the most active institutions of higher musical education in Romania, offering its students high-level qualification in the musical creation and performance fields, as well as musical education and musicology. 

In order to ensure that the students benefit from a complex and durable professional training, the teaching process tends to both the formative and informative aspects of education.

The Academy supports scientific research in the areas of musical creation, performance and musicology, being the first Romanian institution to organize doctoral studies in the musical field.
ANMGD has contributed, due to its cultural, scientific input and intellectual heritage, to building the identity of the musical education system of Romania. Its prestige is owed to the high number of artistic personalities whose names are linked to this institution, as well as the legacy left by our forerunners who have consolidated this school.
The academic, scientific and professional prestige of the ANMGD underlain the closing of partnerships with other higher education institutions from our country and from abroad, being validated by the professionalism of the teaching staff, the quality of the training matured by numerous generations of graduates, the international acknowledgement of the institution.
